Character History:
http://dgrayman.wikia.com/wiki/Allen_Walker

Character Personality:
Allen’s personality is all over the place. Though he is shown to be selfless and kind and positive for others, he is easily the most emotional and conflicted character in the series. His drive for saving people stems from his guilt over bringing back (and killing again) his almost-father as an akuma (demon). Although he has a constant need for putting himself in danger for others, he doesn’t think enough about his own well-being.

One of the first things one would notice after speaking to Allen a bit is how honest he is when speaking about his opinions, or about others. Even though he doesn’t seem to expand on his own feelings very much, he will be straight forward about what he thinks of others. He says straight out if he doesn’t agree with something, or what he thinks of someone’s plans—whether they’re an enemy or on the same side as him.

As a kid Allen was very different. He was abandoned at a young age due to the fact he was born with a parasitic innocence as his left arm, leaving it looking deformed. Frustrated at the world he travelled with a circus where he didn’t get along with anyone- he was rude and self centered, and couldn’t make friends with anyone because of it. It wasn’t until he was adopted by Mana Walker that he changed, becoming fiercely attached to the man. Mana was the closest thing Allen had to a father, and it was he who named Allen, after an old dog of his. The dog was what brought them together, and while it is strangely fitting, it is telling a lot about Allen’s life that he was named after a dog.

Partly because he grew up with so little, Allen is completely loyal to the important people in his life. Apart from Mana, that also includes his master Cross (although he would never, ever admit to this), and his friends and comrades at the Black Order. They accepted him, and told him that when he was with them he was home. He is very protective of all of them, feeling personal guilt if he fails to protect even the people in the Order he didn’t know very well.

His loyalty also leads to bravery. He has been known to throw himself into action to stop an enemy, even when he knows he will be injured anyway. In fact, he’s brave to the point of being reckless. The first mission he ever goes on is proof of this; throwing himself at a level 2 demon without even knowing how smart it is, or anything about it’s fighting style. You can find examples of this in almost every major fight he finds himself in as well.

This has led other people to get mad at him, at one point earlier on Lenalee calls him selfish, telling him as her friend he needs to take better care of himself. She notes that she can help herself and he doesn’t need to save everybody all the time. Although Allen understands what she’s saying, and promises he won’t do it anymore, he can’t seem to stop throwing himself directly into battle.

One of the reasons Allen fights so hard is because he’s a very guilt ridden person. When Mana dies he makes a deal with the Earl to bring him back—not realizing that he brings back dead loved ones in the form of akuma. Mana curses him, leaving a scar on his left eye, and Allen is forced to kill him. The curse makes it so that he is able to see the souls trapped inside the akuma, and as a result of everything he feels a personal responsibility to save all of them.

This trait of his is what first catches the eye of Road Kamelot, one of the members of the Noah family, who shows up early on to ‘play with him’. She forces the Akuma around her to self destruct—meaning their souls will disintegrate—just to see Allen’s reaction. The result is a devastated Allen.

This is also Allen’s driving force in joining the Black Order as an exorcist. He feels a personal responsibility towards akuma. While that was the original reason he joined, he also has a driving desire to save EVERYONE. He claims his left arm is for akuma, while his right one is for helping humans.

If he’s not protecting people’s promises to one another, he’s busy making his own. When one of his fellow exorcists becomes a ‘fallen one’ he swears to Lenalee that he will save him, even when such a thing is believed impossible. Later on in this fight he makes the same promise to the fallen exorcist, screaming at him that he will save him even as he’s being terribly injured. Fighting until the end, it leaves him horribly distressed and feeling personally responsible when he thinks he’s failed someone. Tied in with his savior-complex and guilt is the fact that he’s extremely empathetic., usually taking on the emotions of those he’s fighting for, or even with.

His emotions can get the best of him during fights, and he is easily provoked. During his first mission he refuses to destroy a doll that had made a promise to a dying old man. An Akuma steals the doll, effectively “killing” her and keeping the two from fulfilling their promise. Kanda comments on how angry it makes him, even noting that his innocence shifts in response to the rage he feels. Another example of Allen getting carried away by his emotions is much later during Kanda’s fight with Alma. He interferes to the point of being stabbed by Kanda, insisting that they don’t need to fight. When they both collapse from fighting, he cries as he carries Alma over to Kanda, and eventually sends them both away to die together—despite it being against orders from the Order.

Aside from being rampantly overemotional during some fights, in day to day life Allen’s personality is extremely polite. In the beginning he is constantly using very polite speech patterns, but eventually loosens up on them a little—enough to be noted by his fellow exorcists. Because of his good personality and generally positive attitude he is well liked by almost everyone, and many people end up becoming attached to him. This is made the most obvious after he leaves the Order. One of the men who worked in the science department actually quit his position to go out and find Allen. He is later joined by Kanda, who never quite saw eye to eye with Allen, and together they travel to find him, unsure exactly where he is.

Despite his tendency to remain positive to and for others, Allen is a very unhappy person. Forced to clean up after his master, Cross, everywhere they went, he fell into a habit of gambling to make up for the debts he was constantly racking up. Because of this, the side he portrays when playing poker is called his “dark side” by Lavi, and he comments that it scares him. He puts so much effort into helping everyone that he never stops to think about himself.

Later on Allen learns that having Nea Walker inside him means that the parts of him that belong to him will eventually deteriorate until he is nothing but Noah. This is the reason the Order is so concerned about him, and place him under constant Watch. They fear the Noah part of him-- and the Noah who are trying to bring him to their side don’t want him to keep the innocence in his arm.

After being attacked by Apocryphos, Tyki and Rhode save him and take him away from the order. Because he’s seen leaving with them, his exorcist title is suspended, effectively cutting him off from the Order. It is here that Tyki tells him he has two monsters within him—his Noah side and his innocence. It’s because of this exact reason, Allen is the only person who has a Noah and an exorcist side, that he feels so cut off from everyone. Tyki hits right on the mark and it leaves Allen speechless.

Refusing to join them, and refusing to go back to the Order, he sets out on his own. Proclaiming to Lenalee that he will always be an exorcist, he wishes to do it in his own way. “Don’t stop, keep walking.” is his motto, passed from Nea to Mana to Allen. It’s how he’s been living his life since Mana dies, and it is what Allen will do no matter how conflicted he feels. Another example of him standing by this is when his innocence is “destroyed” by Tyki earlier on. Waking up in a hospital bed without his left arm, upon realizing that he’s still alive (he thought he was dying) he immediately gets up and makes to leave the area. Caught by Bak, he tells Allen to join them (and do something other than fight akuma), to which Allen refuses, pounding on the door with his injured arm and insisting he won’t stop walking until he dies.

He does not seek happiness, only redemption. Nothing that he does is for his own personal gain, or out of thought for himself. Allen states many times that he “will not give up on [insert whatever he’s trying to achieve here] until he dies”, and he means it. While he doesn’t want to die, being a martyr and dying for something important is okay with him.

The most important bonds to Allen (who are still alive) are his friends, particularly Kanda, Lavi and Lenalee. Though his driving force is to save all of humanity, they are the people he is closest to, and most focused on. They work for the Black Order alongside him, and are paired off on missions and the like. His relationship with each of them is very different, but in the end they are all there to help one another. Even Kanda, who has always had something of an antagonistic relationship with Allen, comes back to the Order out of what he feels is personal responsibility to help him.

Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
Allen has several abilities that are particular only to him. The first, and most noticeable thing, is the fact that he has a cursed eye. With a visible scar placed over it, he received it from an akuma, and as such it activates when he is around them. This allows him to not only tell when an akuma is near (they look like normal humans), but it also gives him the power to perceive the suffering sole trapped inside the akuma. The world he sees through the eye is described as “hell on earth.”

The second thing that is hard to miss is his left arm, which is actually his anti-akuma weapon. Although in the beginning it’s red and very odd looking, it appears more normal when deactivated from the canon point he is taken from. Either way he likes to wear gloves to keep attention away from it. A parasitic type innocence, it is connected to Allen’s emotions and is capable of evolving. Originally called Cross, it’s broken by one of the Noah and later evolves into what it is now: Crown Clown. When activated it has several powers associated with it.
- Crown belt; occurs when his innocence takes on a will of it’s own and can either lash out or wrap around Allen to protect him

- Cross Grave; occurs when Allen marks a cross on an akuma, effectively killing them with just that motion

- Sword of Exorcism; occurs when Allen is at the highest synchronization possible with his weapon and his arm becomes a large sword. This form can also shoot forth massive amounts of destructive energy.

As host to the 14th, Nea Walker, Allen also holds the power of the Noah clan as well. Though his other Noah abilities have not been expanded on, the most prominent one is his ability to control the Ark. Because the Ark was previously used by Nea, no one else can move it, much to the Earl’s annoyance. Allen’s position as both Noah and Exorcist is unique to him alone.

Another more basic ability of Allen’s is his strength and agility. The strength comes from the innocence stored within him, and it’s shown that he does exercises to keep up his stamina.

Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:
While Allen has many more strengths than weaknesses, the weaknesses he does have are hard to ignore.

Mentally, he often sees visions of his adopted father Mana in his head, usually at a point when he is weak. He appears to talk to him; although later it’s unclear as to whether he’s speaking to Allen or Nea. Sharing his body with Nea is his biggest weakness, as being part Noah is the reason he was distrusted by the Order in the first place. Giving in to Nea means losing all the parts of him that are Allen, and letting him become fully Noah.

Allen’s biggest physical weakness is actually how reckless he is, which I have touched up on quite a bit. His need to help people causes him to act out without thinking, constantly putting himself in danger. In this way his friends could also be described as a weakness, since they are the main people he strives to protect.

His reaction to his master Cross could also be considered a weakness. Just hearing his name is enough to leave Allen feeling sick. During the arc when they were searching for him, he makes several comments about how he hopes they don’t really find him. The debts Cross added up led him to take up poker as a result, in order to pay them off, and as such Allen finds that he can’t *ever* lose at cards. To him losing is a weakness he can’t really afford.

Being a parasitic type, his innocence is also something of a weakness. In order to keep enough energy to use it, Allen has to eat an excessive amount. This is fine when he’s at home in the Order, but it’s harder for him when he’s out and about on missions where there isn’t as much food.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
Since most of Allen’s superhuman powers are caused by having his innocence, he will be losing almost all of his abilities in Death City.
- He will still have strength and agility greater than the average person, as a lot of that came from working out.

- He will hold on to his positive traits too, his bravery and intelligence.

- It’s been shown that he has had some training with a sword before, so he will be able to wield one if necessary.

What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
- Allen will still be as reckless as ever, constantly trying to save everyone whether he’s friend with them or not.

- He will lose his need to eat so much food to keep up his strength. Although he loves eating, and will probably psychologically still think he needs it.

- Allen will be completely himself, without innocence or Nea. He won’t really feel completely himself, but it takes away the threat of him fading away.

- Not having his cursed eye will feel like a weakness to him. While it really isn’t because there’s no akuma in Death City, he won’t see it that way.

- Not having his innocence means he will have to get used to fighting with an average weapon instead of his arm, if he’s in a situation where he’s not being wielded.

The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?

Allen Walker is the perfect candidate for Death City. Fighting for people is his purpose, and as long as there are people to protect he will want to help out. He’s trained to fight in battle as well as defense, and he is used to fighting with an organization (the Black Order).

[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]

Why is your character a Weapon and not a Meister?
It’s fitting for Allen to be a weapon because his whole style of fighting revolves around HIS weapon. In fact, his whole life was shaped around the weapon in his arm. It’s the reason he was abandoned as a child, and the reason he became an exorcist later on.

He himself is also already a weapon of sorts; the Black Order uses all exorcists as such in their struggle against the Noah. Being wielded by someone makes more sense than Allen attempting to do so, mostly because he could end up being hasty and injuring both of them.

Also weapon spots are all I have left open.

What is your character’s Weapon Form? Why?
Allen’s weapon form is the mask he wears when he is in Crown Clown form. It is part of the form he takes when fighting enemies, and it’s attached to his power.
It looks like this –
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/ss77/palebeginings/Allen_Walker__s_Crown_Clown_by_Jinto_kun.jpg

What is your character’s Weapon Ability?
The ability focuses on one of Allen’s main moves; Cross Grave. In canon this move is performed when he uses his claw arm to tap a cross onto an enemy, effectively blowing them up. It also works in the defensive when a cross is simply drawn into the air in front of him.

Wearing the mask allows the meister to have the same abilities he does, without the innocence in their arm. The stronger the resonation the less time it takes for the kishin to explode in the case of offense, or the (invisible) defensive shield to be activated.

In addition, wielding Allen will also cause the meister’s strength to heighten—once again depending on the resonance between the two of them. In perfect resonance the meister’s strength is doubled, as it’s being combined with that of Allen’s.

In order for Allen’s weapon form to work best, the person using him will have to think like Allen—that is, they will truly have to want to help the people they are fighting for, and not just fight because they enjoy it. If they do feel the latter they can still use him, but they will never achieve perfect resonation, instead it will hover around the strength it was at when they first worked together.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Describe your character’s soul with six adjectives.
closed, brave, complex, lonely, polite, empathetic

What does your character’s soul look like? Be creative.
Allen’s soul is the colour of his hair- white. The face on it is not exactly happy, although not frowning either. It has his curse mark on it in red, the star that is usually seen above his left eye.
